Special Notes

European Pharmacopoeia (EP) lists borneol reference substance with CAS # 507-70-0 in its reagent section. CAS # 507-70-0 is less specific with respect to the stereochemistry and describes a relative configuration of the three stereo centers in the molecule only. Thus, borneol as described in EP could be (+)-Borneol (CAS # 464-43-7), (-)-Borneol (CAS # 464-45-9), or any mixture of these. Thus, our (-)-borneol reference standard complies with the description in EP, but is more precisely described by CAS 464-45-9.
